Internal coating for aluminium aerosols: Evolution of passivation on tinplate

One of the most common uses of tinplate is the manufacture of food-cans. The shelf life of the food container depends on the type of food and on tinplate characteristics. In order to increase corrosion protection for certain foodstuffs, thick tin coatings or lacquer are employed for the inner side of cans.
