She is also the editor of Sustainably Packaged Magazine, which is published by Orora, and co-host of the Sustainable Packaging podcast alongside Cory Connors, Director of Sustainable Packaging at Orora. I started my journey in marketing at\u00a0<strong><a class=\"spip_out\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ororagroup.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer external\">Orora<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0before following my passion for sustainability and joining the Sustainability team. Packaging touches almost every part of our lives, often in ways we don\u2019t even realise. I feel fortunate to have worked with so many incredible people who\u2019ve inspired me to dig deeper and push further\u2014mentors and peers like Cory Connors, Chris Bradley, Alayne Avila, and Justine Chang. I wouldn\u2019t be where I am today without their guidance and support. My network has been my greatest asset, opening doors and helping me grow both personally and professionally.<\/p><p>Sustainability has always been close to my heart, not just because it\u2019s a defining value for my generation but because I believe we simply can\u2019t keep going down the same path. Over time, my passion for sustainability has only grown stronger. I\u2019ve become more intentional about the products I choose and the impact they have. It\u2019s rare to see someone who looks like me in this space, and I\u2019ve been mistaken for an assistant, notetaker, or intern on several occasions. Navigating where my voice is valued and how to use it effectively has been a journey.<\/p><p>At first, it was frustrating, but I\u2019ve come to see these moments as opportunities to challenge perceptions and prove my capabilities. Through these experiences, I\u2019ve developed resilience and a stronger sense of confidence. They\u2019ve also reinforced the importance of leading by example\u2014showing others that diverse voices not only belong at the table but are essential for driving innovation and growth in our industry. In fact, I find myself looking for other diverse voices to invite to the table as well, recognizing that true progress comes from collaboration and inclusion.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2cc8e97 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2cc8e97\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>If you could change one thing about the packaging industry, what would it be and why?<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dd81827 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"dd81827\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Brodie Vander Dussen &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0I\u2019d love to see a stronger, collective commitment to sustainability across the board, with more investment in the infrastructure needed to support sustainable packaging and the circular economy. Packaging should protect the planet as much as it protects the product. The pressure to innovate and adopt sustainable practices has never been greater, and it\u2019s up to us to meet that challenge head-on. We\u2019re in a unique position to bring fresh ideas and drive meaningful change\u2014whether it\u2019s making sustainability the industry standard or finding innovative ways to connect with consumers. Ask questions to better understand the experience but also to spark innovation. Do \u2013 volunteer to work on diverse projects to get as much experience as you can.
