The latest stoppers and closures innovations in wines & spirits
From Vinventions’ cork for no- and low- alcohol wines to Guala Closures’ tamper-evident system, we highlight recent developments from packaging suppliers in the market for wines and spirits stoppers and closures.
Nomacorc nolow from stopper supplier Vinventions is specifically developed for no- and low-alcohol drinks. Until now, says the supplier, brands in this segment mainly relied on screw tops. In addition to supporting a premium position, the cork is said to protect the sensitive aromatic profile of wines. Vinventions highlights that low-alcohol wines are up to 50 times more sensitive to TCA (the molecule responsible for cork taste) than traditional wines, with a detection threshold of 0.03ng/L compared to 1.4ng/L.
Additionally, their fragile aromatic profile requires a very low permeability to prevent oxidation. La Cave des Vignerons de Pierrevert (Petra Viridis) is the first company to have adopted this stopper, using it for its Cuvée Six low-alcohol rosé.
