The Koi Can: Isimat’s InLine Foiling process highlighted at Paris Packaging Week

During Paris Packaging Week held on 28 & 29 January, Isimat, a subsidiary of Kurz, introduced The Koi Can, an innovative packaging solution that combines its patented InLine Foiling technology with screen printing in a single machine. It’s design aims to create distinctive visual and tactile effects.

InLine Foiling is a cold metal coating process that does not need heat or pressure, making it energy-efficient and ideal for thin surfaces. It starts by applying a UV primer to specific areas, followed by the bonding of a silver film that adheres only to the coated sections using UV light. Its design can be customised with coloured varnishes and finished with coated sections for added durability.

By using a single silver reference and allowing colour customisation through overprinting, the technology reduces costs and inventory challenges. It also provides a sustainable production option with faster drying and lower energy consumption.
