Canson invests in a biomass boiler plant

"Combining our industrial heritage with environmental challenges"

A leading player in drawing paper, fine art paper, and specialty papers for over 450 years, Canson is continuing the transformation of its production site with the commissioning of a new biomass boiler.

This investment of nearly €6 million represents a major step in the site's decarbonization strategy. It aims to significantly reduce dependence on fossil fuels while strengthening the competitiveness and sustainability of industrial activity in France.

A boiler fueled by a local and renewable resource
The new installation runs on wood chips and pallet shredding, sourced within a 100-kilometer radius of the site. This choice prioritizes a renewable resource and local sourcing, while also aligning with the principles of a circular economy.

This new boiler is thus part of a comprehensive approach to transforming the site and the surrounding region, reconciling environmental concerns, the valorization of local resources, and the maintenance of competitive industrial activity. Nearly 89% reduction in energy-related greenhouse gas emissions.

After six months of fine-tuning, the new boiler is now beginning to meet its targets. It is expected to reduce energy-related greenhouse gas emissions, as well as the site's natural gas needs, by nearly 89%.

Beyond its environmental performance, this investment is therefore a lever for industrial transformation, allowing the site to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels while maintaining its production capacity.

"Moving forward together: energy transition and industrial performance"
Through this investment, Canson is continuing its transformation and affirming its commitment to making a concrete contribution to the decarbonization of the French paper industry.
