New hybrid furnace for luxury glass packaging
Verescence and Fives have entered into a strategic partnership to decarbonize glass production in France.
Supported by the European Union, the Normandy region, and ADEME as part of France 2030, the project includes replacing an existing furnace with a new hybrid oxy-gas technology at Verescence’s Mers-les-Bains site in 2026.
It will be the world’s first glass hybrid furnace for cosmetics applications.
It will run on a combination of oxy-gas and electricity, replacing up to 80% of fossil fuels with electrical power. This configuration will drastically reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the production of high-quality glass.
By combining expertise, Verescence and Fives are setting a new benchmark to transform the industry through innovation and responsible growth.
