Spirits supply chain reacts to changing conditions

From the pandemic to sustainability, the spirits packaging sector is responding to new demands and trends. Packaging News spoke to key players in the market, from brands and trade associations to designers and manufacturers. 

Glass packaging has traditionally dominated the spirits market. Absolut believes Covid-19 pushed sustainability to the forefront of the sector, resulting in an increase in environmental awareness and interest.

Chief Executive at Croxsons says spirits brands are demanding sustainability and authenticity in its packaging. “More and more clients are looking at using lighter weight bespoke bottles, which in turn gives us more ability to produce a premium looking and feeling bottle without heavyweight penalty”.
