Bvlgari L’Opera Grandiosa: Venetian glassmaking meets high jewellery

The unique L’Opera Grandiosa fragrance from Bvlgari (LVMH) features a Murano glass flacon encrusted with gold and coloured gemstones. The €50,000 creation made its debut last year at the reopening of La Samaritaine, also owned by LVMH.

The mouth-blown flacon in Venetian glass is crafted using the sbruffo technique. This combines various glass layers with varying shades and degrees of translucency to create an amethyst-coloured bottle inspired by Bvlgari’s jewellery creations. The inscription on the base of the bottle, “1/1” represents that the bottle is unique.

Designed in the spirit of the brand’s Serpenti collection, the hexagonal gold necklace has rubellites, amethysts, and citrines set into its scales. The smooth, spherical form of the malachite cap resembles Bvlgari’s cabochon.

The flacon also holds Bvlgari’s Le Gemme Imperiali Desiria eau de parfum. Daniela Andrier (Givaudan) designed this scent, which blends notes of magnolia, rose, and musk.
