ADF Innovation Awards Spotlight | Eco Dropper

In December 2022, our prestigious jury from brands including KAO, Beiersdorf, Unilever and many more came together to judge the ADF Innovation Awards. The finalists and winners of the ADF Innovation Awards 2023 were announced, recognised and applauded at ADF Paris, part of Paris Packaging Week in January in 2023.

Sustainable Innovation Award Winner: Eco Dropper

Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?

The existing dropper composed of glass/rubber/PP or ABS, is difficult for separate waste collection and recycling. Thus, Yonwoo developed a mono-material dropper which is 100% recyclable.

Yonwoo substituted existing dropper materials (rubber/glass) for mono-material (PP, Polypropylene) while keeping the same functionality, performance, usability and minimizing the raw material usage.

How did the pack fulfil the brief? Please describe the technical innovations in the pack and the challenges they address

Yonwoo developed an ultra-thin PP structure to secure flexibility. A bulb and screwcap were also developed to form a singular piece to ensure it was airtight.

The glass pipette was substituted for a simply designed PP pipette for desirable plastic molding.

Why do you believe this pack deserves to win an Innovation Award?

This innovation follows global sustainable packaging trends. This mono material product is sustainable, easy to separate, is recyclable and maintains the products functionality.

Who did you work with on this project? Please list the brand owners, packaging manufacturers, design agencies and anyone else involved in the creation of the pack and briefly say how they contributed.
