Moët & Chandon’s new prestige cuvée

To celebrate the 280th anniversary of the house, Moët & Chandon is launching its “new” prestigious cuvée under the name : Collection Impériale Création No. 1.

The wine is a 50/50 blend of Pinot and Chardonnay, as well as seven different vintages based on Grand Vintage 2013 (which accounts for 42.5% of the cuvée). It is also complemented by no fewer than five older Grand Vintage vintages, which account for the remaining 42.5%.

Mr Gouez, the cellar master, explains the difference between this prestige cuvée and its predecessor, MC111: “The result was a little too heavy for the Moët style. Here, we’re looking for more freshness, fruitiness and lightness. The 2013 base is livelier and brings this lightness. The oak-aged components of the vintage are aged separately for around a year, then returned to stainless steel or concrete vats (before being blended)”.
