In December 2024, our prestigious jury, composed of brands such as Bacardi, Pernod Ricard, and Veuve Clicquot, gathered to judge the entries for the PLD Innovation Awards. The finalists and winners of the PLD Innovation Awards 2025 were announced, celebrated, and honoured at PLD Paris, as part of Paris Packaging Week in January 2025.

Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?

The packaging of the Time: Space Collection showcases extraordinary technical precision. The interior components of the packaging are crafted from two Die-Cast Aluminium castings, which are then processed through a CNC operation to create perfectly fitting threads, ensuring that every piece screws together flawlessly. The result is a seamless and functional assembly, with each component hand-polished and finished with a custom Macallan Red spray line finish, exemplifying luxury in every detail.

The collar, made of Die-Cast Zamac, is finished with the same exquisite process, adding to the refined overall presentation of the packaging.

How did the pack fulfil the brief?

The Time: Space Collection packaging fulfils the brief by combining technical precision, functionality, and luxury. Its innovative use of Die-Cast Aluminium and Zamac ensures durability and intricate design, while CNC machining achieves perfect threading for seamless assembly. Hand polishing and the custom Macallan Red spray line finish elevate its premium appeal, meeting aesthetic and tactile expectations. These innovations address challenges like alignment accuracy, durability, and the demand for a sophisticated presentation, resulting in a flawless, high-end packaging solution.
