FaiveleyTech supports the launch of YOM™ Beauty with an innovative custom-designed packaging solution
FaiveleyTech, the French expert in high value-added cosmetic packaging, is taking a new step forward towards sustainable luxury.
Its Beauty Business Unit has entered into a major industrial partnership with pioneering beauty brand YOM™ Beauty, the first LipSafe™ lip care brand, the new gold standard that requires every ingredient to be both cosmetic grade for skin, and food grade certified for the accidental journey in – and where every formula is independently certified microplastic-free.
By launching the unprecedented lid and spatula in Sulapac® Solid material, FaiveleyTech proves its mastery in development of packaging solutions that combine innovative materials, technical expertise and aesthetic requirements.
Industrial expertise in support of emerging brands
To bring YOM™’s vision to life – where every ingredient in a lip care product is both cosmetic-grade for the skin and food-grade certified for the accidental journey in – FaiveleyTech’s Beauty Business Unit has fully deployed its expertise in the transformation of bio-based materials.
This approach led to the development of the upper part of “The Pebble™, a premium lid featuring a shape inspired by Irish wishing stones, with its organic form designed to feel natural and comfortable in the palm of the hand. The teams based in Orgelet were responsible for the overall technical challenge of the closure and application system, developing both the lid and the spatula.
A triple industrial and technical challenge
- Exceptional agility and responsiveness: Development, fine-tuning, and qualification were completed in a very short timeframe, without compromising on quality, demonstrating the teams’ ability to adapt with both efficiency and rigor.
- A first for Sulapac® Solid material in the beauty sector: FaiveleyTech is introducing this innovative material to the beauty market for the first time. Used here in its natural, uncolored form, it reveals distinctive pearlescent finishes that meet the aesthetic standards of the luxury sector. Made from bio-based polymers and mineral fillers, it offers a unique ceramic-like feel, is PFAS-free, and biodegrades without leaving microplastics behind.
- An innovation in sealing technology: In a further step toward enhanced material purity, this is also the first time FaiveleyTech has developed a seal made from Sulapac material. Assembled without adhesives nor PE or PP layer, the lid is a mono-material structure, which is designed to support recovery as recycling streams for bio-based materials develop. This technical advancement reflects the Group’s DNA, which is committed to supporting the transition toward sustainable materials fully integrated into their value chain, from origin through to end of life.
“Every part of this product had to meet the same standard, inside the jar and out. FaiveleyTech understood immediately why a lid that sheds microplastics would undo everything we were trying to build. The Pebble™ is proof that you can hold luxury and integrity in the same hand” said Laura DiGirolamo, co-founder of YOM™.
“We are proud to support a brand that places people at the heart of everything it does, to contribute to an increasingly natural vision of cosmetics, and to create positive synergies with other industrial players” said Béryl Tomaschett, Sales Director at FaiveleyTech.
“Seeing one of our flagship materials, Sulapac Solid, take the beautiful, soft shape of YOM™’s Pebble™ is an absolute delight: it reflects FaiveleyTech’s superior quality and shows that functional design doesn’t need any fossil-based plastics. It also embodies the shared commitment of all three companies to advancing sustainability in the beauty sector,” said Katja Ahonen, Key Account Manager at Sulapac.
