Sakari Saarela is a Partner at UB FIGG, a private equity fund focused on accelerating the shift from
fossil-based to renewable, bio-based materials. He has over ten years of experience in international
finance and private equity, with deep expertise in the forest, packaging and industrial sectors. At
UB FIGG, he leads growth investments into European scale-ups that provide commercially viable
solutions to climate and resource challenges—ranging from plastic alternatives to low-carbon
construction materials.
Prior to joining UB FIGG, Sakari advised institutional clients at Rothschild & Co in London and
Helsinki on mergers, acquisitions and financing strategies. He holds an M.Sc. in Finance from Aalto
University School of Business. UB FIGG is a signatory of the Operating Principles for Impact
Management and integrates ESG and impact metrics across its investment process.
