Sustainable manufacturing.
At the beginning of 2017, we moved into an extremely sustainable and CO2-neutral production site. The latest and most sustainable construction techniques and materials have been used in the building, minimizing energy loss. For example, we have an energy-efficient air conditioning system, the building is of course well insulated, LED lighting has been installed everywhere and we have an air circulation system that distributes the (warm) air well. Our machines also generate heat. The combination ensures that we hardly need any additional heating or cooling.
2,996 solar panels have been installed on our roof. These solar panels generate much more electricity than we consume. So we have a positive result on the power grid. This also means that our machines are 100% solar powered. Visitors and employees can recharge their electric cars at the charging stations installed in the car park.
In addition to being energy efficient, we are also careful with all base materials. A good example is our inventive underground waste transport and sorting system. An underground conveyor belt crosses the production hall on which waste cardboard and paper are directly evacuated from the connected machines. This waste is stored separately and then collected by a waste processor for recycling. Effectively separating and disposing of waste from production is one measure. Preventing unusable base materials is another matter. Cardboard is very sensitive to humidity. Our humidity system ensures that the cardboard is stored in the right conditions. This prevents the cardboard from deforming and thus becoming unusable before the production process. We are also extremely efficient with the base material during the production process. Cardboard dust is released during the crushing of the cardboard. This cardboard dust is extracted directly on our cardboard cutter/milling machine and then transformed into cardboard pulp using a pressing system.
This cardboard pulp is again evacuated via the waste transport and separation system, after which it is offered for recycling.
Our production techniques also give us the opportunity to lead the way in sustainable packaging. Thanks to our Cantobox® production technique, we can manufacture packaging only from 100% recycled cardboard. So without printing. This is not possible with traditional techniques. This way you eliminate extra processing and materials. And make no mistake: sustainable packaging can also look luxurious.
