Dual Action Hybrid Mascara Applicator combines two distinct application behaviours within a single mascara wand.

Developed through Neural Hinge’s applicator innovation work and commercialised in Laura Geller LashBOSS Max, the system combines a conventional twisted wire brush with a dedicated molded precision tip.

The primary brush zone is engineered for efficient formula loading, distribution and build across the lashes. The molded tip creates a second functional zone for more controlled application, allowing the user to reach smaller, individual and harder to access lashes with greater precision.

This architecture enables the applicator to move naturally between broader product application and detailed finishing without requiring a second tool or changing the user’s application routine.

The development also addressed the engineering challenges created by combining two different applicator technologies within one wand, including material behaviour, geometry, assembly and functional integration.

The resulting system demonstrates a wider Neural Hinge design principle: different regions of a single applicator can be engineered to perform different tasks.
