In December 2024, our prestigious jury, composed of brands such as Chanel, Dior, PUIG, Interparfums, and many others, gathered to judge the entries for the PCD Innovation Awards. The winners of the PCD Innovation Awards 2025 were announced, celebrated, and honoured at PCD Paris, as part of Paris Packaging Week in January 2025.

Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?

At La Prairie, we always strive to delight our clients with highly selective, market-first, innovative, non-conventional, and truly luxurious products and packaging.

For all new developments, an additional objective is to meet our sustainability goals and anticipate, as much as possible, upcoming regulatory and compliance requirements.

All our products are developed to remain on the shelf for several years. With this development, one of the major challenges was addressing potential PPWR requirements at a very early stage—well before the regulation had even been drafted.

How did the pack fulfil the brief?

The primary objective was to develop a fully recyclable solution in anticipation of PPWR. This is why we created a “mono-material” packaging—while still delivering a highly selective and luxurious execution.

Additionally, the particular shape of the pack presented significant development challenges and led us to explore new, non-conventional technical solutions that are not yet commonly used in the packaging industry.

Why do you believe this pack deserves to win an Innovation Award?

In our opinion this is a future-thinking solution that anticipates sustainability standards which will eventually be mandated by law (PPWR). And it achieves this with a luxurious execution.

This project gave us the opportunity to look ahead, applying non-conventional technologies, and we believe our solution will inspire further innovation in sustainable and forward-thinking packaging development.
