PCD Innovation Awards Spotlight | DROP N°5 L’EAU 50ML

In December 2024, our prestigious jury, composed of brands such as Chanel, Dior, PUIG, Interparfums, and many others, gathered to judge the entries for the PCD Innovation Awards. The winners of the PCD Innovation Awards 2025 were announced, celebrated, and honoured at PCD Paris, as part of Paris Packaging Week in January 2025.

Limited Edition Pack > 2000 pieces

Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?

This exciting technical project centred on the crucial fusion between materials and the desired shape. The real challenge was designing the cover and assembling the plastic insert. Shaping the glass cover into a ‘galley tip’, an unconventional form, demanded precise control over the glass’s dimensions and geometry during cooling, as these factors directly affected the quality of the insert’s bonding.

How did the pack fulfil the brief?

Our project highlights two important aspects of innovation.

Firstly, we made use of the new single-section IS machine acquired by our partner, TECHNOGLAS. This machine is designed to automatically produce small batches of high-quality blown glass. One of the main challenges was creating our cover with its pebble-like shape, which required specific adjustments to ensure the IS technology could handle such a complex design while maintaining top quality.

At the same time, UV bonding was essential for assembling the plastic insert into the glass. While this technique isn’t new, applying it to our project presented particular challenges. We carried out numerous tests and refinements to achieve the best possible result. This development phase involved several visits to fine-tune the process and ensure a strong, visually precise bond.

Why do you believe this pack deserves to win an Innovation Award?

These innovations, combining technical challenges in glass production with the refinement of bonding, have enabled us to create a high-end packaging solution.
