Guerlain taps Microcaps’ technology for Aqua Allegoria Perle

Skinification meets alcohol-free fragrance for Guerlain’s latest novelty within its Aqua Allegoria collection. Translucent microbeads produced using Microcaps’ micro-encapsulation technology lend both sensory and visual appeal.

Spring 2026 sees Guerlain’s launch of Aqua Allegoria Perle, fragrances based on Swiss company Microcaps’ encapsulation technology. Traditionally dispersed in an alcohol base, the fragrance concentrate is now encapsulated within natural alginate microbeads, which are suspended in a water-based formula that is alcohol-free.

This formulation “allows for the same olfactory concentration as an alcohol-based eau de parfum, in a water-based creation with a unique sensory experience,” explains the LVMH-owned brand. Enriched with plant glycerin and infused with floral water, the fragrance has a gel texture and is designed to be lightly massaged into the skin.

The fragrance formula also adds aesthetic appeal to the packaging, with myriad small translucent beads visible within the bottle (Pochet du Courval).
