What is the plastic strategy for the hygiene and beauty sector?

Aracane Research has launched the first edition of its study “Plastic and Beauty 2021: Which plastic strategy for the hygiene and beauty sector?” More than 5,000 French people were interviewed last November and ten categories were analysed. 

The results revealed that generally financial considerations, value for money, naturalness, efficiency and production are more important when it comes to purchasing decisions. The ecological dimension of the packaging of the beauty hygiene products comes second to consumers. 

One of the most important aspects of hygiene and beauty product packaging is its practicality, whether the pack is easy to open and close, and allows to easily apply the product.

Some other statistics revealed: 

  • 78% of customers are ready to change their habits for a product with environmentally friendly packaging. 
  • 65% of customers avoid buying hygiene and beauty products in plastic packaging as much as possible. 
  • 52% of customers are buying more products without packaging.
