2022 aerosol production figures for UK, Germany and France announced by the European Aerosol Federation

To provide early insight, FEA released preliminary statistic data from its three main manufacturing countries: United Kingdom, Germany and France, which commonly represent more than 50% of the European aerosol production.

“For 2022, these countries produced 3.057 billion aerosol dispensers; an overall stable situation compared to 2021. However, there was a significant increase in the production of cosmetic aerosols, with ‘deodorants/antiperspirants’ and ‘shaving care’ categories leading the growth.

This would simply reflect the end of the Covid-19 crisis that we faced since 2020, with many people going back to the office.

The household care category saw a significant decrease in Germany, a slight decrease in the UK, but a significant increase in France which however did not succeed to fully compensate the two other countries loss. When combined, the remaining categories showed a stable situation or a significant decrease. A quite contrasted situation which needs to be confirmed with additional data.

The fact that consumers’ demand for cosmetic aerosols is increasing demonstrates that the aerosol format remains popular. This positive trend is encouraging and necessary for the aerosol industry which constantly develops products fitting consumers’ expectations in a context of ever-demanding regulations and ever-increased environmental credentials.” says Valérie Boulet, Communications & Events Manager at the FEA – European Aerosol Federation.
