Please describe the brief for the pack. What were the objectives for the innovation project? What were the requirements and constraints?
The Veuve Clicquot Cooler is the perfect blend of style and practicality. Designed to keep your champagne at the ideal temperature for up to an hour, it’s perfect for picnics.
Available in yellow and pink, inspired by Veuve Clicquot’s iconic Brut Yellow Label and Brut Rosé cuvées, this cooler combines luxury and convenience in a compact design.

How did the pack fulfil the brief? Please describe the technical innovations in the pack and the challenges they address
The three main technical challenges were:
- Creating a functional handle: three layers of tinplate were needed to make a handle strong enough to carry a bottle without bending under its weight (1.7kg).
- Designing a retractable, rotating handle to save space during transport: eliminating sliding noises and ensuring smooth movement of the handle.
- Minimising significant deformation of the base and lid while reducing visible marks caused by material stretching as much as possible.

Why do you believe this pack deserves to win an Innovation Award?
The box serves a dual purpose: to carry the product and keep it chilled. It is designed to be kept by consumers and reused over time.
Finally, the box is made entirely of tinplate and moulded cellulose, making it fully recyclable.
