Veolia and L’Oréal join forces to manufacture cosmetic packaging made from recycled plastic

In order to reduce the carbon footprint of cosmetic packaging, Veolia and L’Oréal are collaborating to create a circular economy for plastics: Veolia will supply L’Oréal with high-quality recycled plastic that will minimise CO2 emissions by 50% to 70% as compared to regular bottles.

The plastic will be recycled from waste packaging (bottles, flasks, etc.) after it has been processed. In terms of health safety, the new recycled plastic used in cosmetic packaging complies with the requirements and certifications of the food industry.

There is a strong global demand for recycled plastic, which is equivalent to virgin plastic. Using innovative technology that eliminates organic compounds, Veolia produces very high quality granules that meet international certifications.

Packaging and Development Director at L’Oréal Jacques Playe stated, “We are pleased to enter into this partnership with Veolia for the supplying of very high-quality recycled plastic dedicated to cosmetic packaging, because we share the same ambitions and values in terms of sustainable development”.
