APEAL has announced that steel packaging has already met EU’s 2025 recycling target

The Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging (APEAL) has announced that recently verified data indicates steel packaging has achieved its 2025 EU recycling rate goal ahead of schedule, surpassing expectations by four years.

APEAL expressed its satisfaction with the recently released data, emphasizing that the figures reflect the actual recycling, not just collection, aligning with the EU’s forward-thinking approach.

The data discloses that 78.5% of steel packaging was genuinely recycled in 2021, translating to nearly 8 out of every 10 steel packaging items introduced to the market. This accomplishment signifies that the EU’s target of a 70% steel recycling rate by 2025 has already been attained, as stated by the organization.
